Brenda C (Thomas) Hurry, a native of Telfair County, transitioned from this life on Wednesday, July 17th, 2024, at her home in Poughkeepsie, New York.
Brenda was born July 9, 1951, to the late Archie and Lucy Thomas. Brenda was educated in the Telfair County School District, graduating from Central High School in the class of 1969. From there, she began her post-secondary education at Savannah State College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology.
After college, Brenda began what would be an interesting and varied career, covering positions in manufacturing to social services, in New York and North Carolina.
Brenda is survived by her sister Beatrice, brother-in-law Edward McCormick and loving nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.
Brenda was a woman of quiet strength and unwavering faith. She was known for her frugal lifestyle and simple pleasures, yet her life resonated with profound generosity and deep devotion to her family and faith.
Brenda navigated life’s challenges with resilience and grace. Despite her solitary nature, Brenda’s heart was expansive, her kindness touching the lives of many who crossed her path.
Brenda’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She found solace and purpose in her spiritual beliefs, guiding her through difficult times and inspiring those around her with her unwavering devotion.
She cherished her extended family, always putting their needs above her own. Her wisdom and gentle guidance were a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew her.
In her spare time, Brenda enjoyed reading, finding solace in nature and the written word. Her love for the simple pleasures in life reflected her contentment and gratitude for every moment.
Brenda will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends. Her legacy of kindness, faith, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
