Freddie Lee Wooten was born June 22, 1936 to Willie Lee Wooten, Sr. and Annie Lee Coates-Wooten in Wheeler County, Georgia
Freddie’s demise came on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at the Jeff Davis Hospital in Hazlehurst, GA.
His Christian experience began at Centenniel CME Church in Scotland, GA where he remained a life long member. He served on the Steward Board. He was a trustee and Treasurer.
After his graduation from Twin City High School in 1956, he enlisted in the United States Army. After his stint in the military, he returned home and went to work doing bridge construction. Later, he worked in the wholesale hardware business and retired from Husqvarna. After retirement, he went to work for Telfair County Schools as a bus driver for 8 years.
He loved fishing, being a big brother to his sisters and a father figure to his nieces and nephews. Freddie was in his happy place when he was riding in his Silverado and hanging with his brother/cousin/confidant and chauffeur, Larry Perce. He could always depend on Larry.
Freddie was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Wooten, Sr. and siblings, Wilbert Wooten, Vassie Wooten-Worthing and Willie Wooten, Jr.
Remaining to mourn his passing is four sisters, Alice Kemp, Juanita Wooten, Gail Wooten and Eva Conaway; two brothers, Larry Pierce and James Conaway; 34 nephews;18 nieces; special cousins, Lewis Southerland and Carl Fletcher; Vera Mitchell and John Tomblin; prayer partners, Ray Mobley and Ruth Simmons; and a host of other relatives and friends.
