Sadie Wilcox Boatwright was born April 30, 1934 in Jacksonville, GA to the late Cinella Mae Durr Wilcox and Ossie Lee Wilcox. She was the youngest of her siblings. She was educated in the Telfair County School District which guided her passion of teaching and caring for the youth. Her love for children led to Cloud Nine Childcare Center, Douglas, GA where she retired after many years of service.
She accepted Christ at an early age after which she chose song as her ministry. Sadie’s love for song and music was inspired by her mother who helped organize the Ocmulgee Community Choir in 1933. The divine creation of this choir would be the start of Sadie’s legacy which fueled her relationship with God. Sadie would become known in surrounding counties for her angelic vocal tone, allowing people to experience Christ as she sang. Sadie was a member of Temple Chapel Church and Rock Hill CME Church.
She leaves to cherish her memories, one son, James Dicks; one sister, Mary McRae; grandchildren; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; and daughter in God, Pastor, Louise Coney; nieces, nephews; other loved ones and friends.
