Sophie Berry

Aroine Sophie Berry was born on April 6, 1922.  She was called Sophie by all that knew her. Her parents were Patsy Lee Colbert and Andy Thomas Studstill. She was the youngest of 6 children. She was born and raised on the Whatley Farms in Accord, Georgia.

Sophie attended a segregated school in the area that went to the 7th grade. Sophie finished the 7th grade.  She joined and was baptized at Centilla Baptist Church in Accord, Georgia. at an early age.  She was a faithful member of S. Joseph Church of God in Christ for many years and later served faithfully at New Birth Non-denominational Church in Statesboro,Georgia.

Sophie moved around doing various jobs, she eventually settled down in McRae and worked as a housekeeper for Dr. and Mrs. Frank Mann, Jr. and family.
Aroine Sophie Berry transitioned from this life on March 6, 2024.  She was proceeded in death by her parents, siblings, son, Michael Riley and grandchild, Kimberely Cope.
 
In this life Sophie leaves her daughters: Gloria Jean Boney, Sandra Jean (Abner) Cope. Her sons: Charles Edward Riley, Samuel Robert Riley,  John Calvin (LaTrenka) Riley, and the Manns (Marilyn Bednar, Carolyn Lavely, Frank Mann III, John Mann) whom she took care of  for more than  60 years.

She is remembered lovingly by 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild , nieces, nephews and a host of relatives, and friends.
