Willie Roy Haynes was born on December 3, 1947 in Telfair County, Georgia, to the union of the late Samuel Haynes, Sr. and the late Sam Ella Haynes. He peacefully transitioned on February 25, 2026, in Mobile, Alabama.
At an early age, Willie accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a member of St. James CME Church in Lumber City, Georgia. During his lifetime, Willie enjoyed watching boxing. He also had a love for cooking and could often be heard saying "I wonder what this tastes like" as he was developing a new creation in the kitchen. He also took great pride in growing vegetables in his garden. Above all, he cherished his family and his faith.
Willie was a hardworking and determined man. He began his career at General Motors in Detroit, Michigan, where he worked from 1967 until 1974. He moved to Mobile in 1975 and was mentored in commercial cleaning and entrepreneurship at Diversified Janitorial Services. With vision and dedication, he soon established his own business in 1975, naming it Haynes Janitorial Services. Through perseverance and integrity, he successfully operated Haynes Janitorial Services until his retirement in 2015.
After relocating to Mobile, Alabama with his family, he became a faithful member of Holmes Street Missionary Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and served as Assistant Superintendent. Continuing to grow in his faith and calling, he later became an Ordained Minister and was an Associate Pastor at Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church of God in Christ, Inc. He subsequently served as a devoted member of Abiding Word Fellowship Church with Pastor Ortiza Cox until his transition.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Haynes, Sr. and Sam Ella Haynes; his brothers, Samuel Haynes, Jr. and John Haynes; his sister, Barbara Haynes Clark; and his daughter Erica Conner.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted wife of twenty years, Leila Haynes; his brother, Edward Thomas Haynes; his daughters, Sophia Haynes, Yetiva Haynes, April (Chey) Haynes Riley, Michelle (Michael) Allen, Johnette (Marvin) Davis, son Michael Bostick; fourteen grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and a loving extended family of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
Willie’s legacy of faith, hard work, and love for his family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
